The Department of Health Professions Education (DHPE) at Stellenbosch University (SU) is an academic department that seeks to promote teaching and learning within the Faculty of

Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) through its postgraduate programmes, research and faculty development initiatives. In addition, the DHPE learning technologies team plays a

l eading role in advancing the effective integration of educational technologies in teaching, learning and assessment practices across all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes

in the FMHS.

Duties/Pligte

  • Providing administrative support for the Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to ensure seamless digital learning platform operations.
  • Providing multi-tiered technical support for students and staff with LMS access and usage to minimise technological barriers, including individual consultations and group training sessions.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting educational technology equipment for user access and platform functionality issues.
  • Facilitating and delivering training workshops tailored to lecturers' digital education technology skill levels.
  • Supporting gradebook management with meticulous attention to detail, including efficient mark import/export processes.
  • Creating detailed, user-friendly instructional guides and documentation for complex LMS features.
  • Developing and maintaining organised digital content repositories for easy access and retrieval.
  • Assisting with general administrative and technical support tasks.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • A three-year bachelor's degree or equivalent NQF 7 qualification.
  • Two years' relevant working experience at a higher education institution or within the field of learning technologies.
  • Strong technical proficiency with learning management systems.
  • Experience in educational technology support.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and digital collaboration tools.
  • The ability to create instructional materials and documentation.
  • Basic video editing skills.
  • Understanding virtual reality and educational technology applications.
