Actuarial Consultant – Insurance & Financial Services

Are you a nearly or newly qualified actuary looking to deepen your experience across a diverse portfolio of clients in insurance, healthcare, and retirement funding? This is your chance to join a dynamic, high-performing team that works at the cutting edge of actuarial, audit, and risk management solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You'll work on a broad range of technical and consulting engagements, including:

  • Supporting actuarial audits for life and general insurers, medical schemes, and retirement funds.
  • Reviewing technical provisions, IFRS 17 and IAS 19 liabilities, and drafting formal reports.
  • Assisting clients with IFRS 17 implementation—policy decisions, transition impact assessments, and more.
  • Engaging in actuarial modelling and valuations related to reserving, reinsurance, M&A due diligence, capital optimisation, dashboards, etc.
  • Conducting actuarial function assessments and helping clients transform actuarial and risk processes.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across all levels to drive solutions and innovation.
  • Contributing to business development, thought leadership, and operational growth of the actuarial team.

What You’ll Need:

  • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary.
  • Strong experience in an actuarial audit support environment across insurance, retirement funds, or medical schemes.
  • Technical understanding of IFRS 17, IAS 19, SAM/QIS, ISA 540, reserving, capital, and reinsurance.
  • Experience with actuarial or analytics tools such as Prophet, SQL, Python, SAS, Power BI, or MATLAB.

Technical & Consulting Strengths:

  • Business writing skills—reports, proposals, and client communication.
  • Strong analytical thinking, structure, and project management.
  • Confidence in dealing directly with clients and leading conversations.
