Job description

Employee Relations Manager

We are seeking an Employee Relations Manager at Santam. This role may be based at Head Office Tygervalley or Alice Lane Sandton, reporting directly to the Head of Human Capital Delivery. The position involves developing and implementing plans, policies, and processes related to employee relations within the Santam Group.

The incumbent will provide advice and support on labour relationships, promote sound business labour relations, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing employee relations advice and consultancy to HR and line managers.
  2. Identifying, communicating, and mitigating legal, financial, and reputational risks.
  3. Drafting contracts, policies, and procedures aligned with labour legislation.
  4. Managing collective bargaining processes with unions.
  5. Analyzing employee data to identify ER trends and reporting findings.
  6. Representing Santam in external dispute resolution forums such as CCMA.
  7. Ensuring HR teams are updated on latest employment legislation.
  8. Maintaining comprehensive ER administration systems and case libraries.
  9. Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  10. Managing projects aligned with HR strategies and priorities.

Qualifications and experience required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in HRM or Law.
  2. Postgraduate degree in Human Resources with a focus on Employee Relations.
  3. Admitted attorney specializing in Employment Law.
  4. At least 5 years' relevant experience, including CCMA processes.
  5. Experience engaging with senior management and external partners.
