Purpose of the Job
The role reports directly to the Group Financial Director and on a dotted line to the Divisional Head. It will assume full accountability and responsibility for the financial function of Key Distributors.
The purpose of the role is to manage the full financial function, including internal controls and reporting on financial performance, financial position, and cash flows of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly management accounts and annual financial reporting
- Coordinate and submit annual budgets to the Holding Company and undertake variance analysis against monthly management accounts
- Manage day-to-day financial matters including:
- Assistance in managing the debtors’ book
- Monthly and annual rebate control and reconciliation with all suppliers, including rebates due to the General Ledger account
- Ensure that back-end supplier support, discounts, and rebates are received in accordance with agreements
- Monitor supplier spend in relation to rebates based on set targets
- Manage monthly accruals and creditors
- Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger as required by reporting accountants
- Calculate and reconcile VAT and income tax, and submit reports to the Holding Company
- Ensure compliance with government statistics requirements
- Prepare schedules and liaise regarding year-end audits
- Reconcile inventory and monitor inventory aging to reduce inventory days and excess holdings
- Manage bookkeeping staff
- Identify financial risks, overspends, and areas for improvement
- Analyze financial transactions to substantiate decisions
- Develop and recommend policies and procedures to maintain internal controls
- Guide accounting clerical staff and coordinate activities
- Reconcile financial discrepancies through analysis
- Follow internal controls to maintain financial security
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Chartered Accountant or equivalent with relevant tertiary qualifications
- At least 5 years of financial management experience in an FMCG environment
