Position: PLC Technician and Automation Engineer

Technoserve is an Electrical and Electronic Engineering company with several departments: Technoserve EEE, Technoserve Medium Voltage, Technoserve Projects, Technoserve Automation and Technoserve Renewable Energy.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Technician to join our team at our Atlantis-branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Electrical Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

·Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.

·Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.

·Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical systems.

·Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop and implement electrical projects.

·Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to carry out tasks accurately.

·Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

·Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and report on findings to supervisors.

·Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to enhance technical skills.

Requirements:

·Qualified electrician biased towards technician with at least 4 years post apprenticeship experience in 3 phase industrial/commercial.

·Qualifications at a tertiary institute with either B.Eng / B.Sc / B.Tech

·Sound knowledge of electrical power and control wiring as well as fault finding necessary.

·Must be aware of the electrical fundamentals such as fault currents, circuit breaker selection etc.

·Any knowledge of PV/BESS/DG plant advantageous.

·Must be able to work with and adapt to technology and electronic equipment such as VSD’s, Soft Starters etc (PLC programming experience not specifically required).

·Willing to work overtime as and when required (advance notice would be given).

·Willing to travel infrequently but when necessary (this could include international travel for 1-2 months, but this would be the exception).

·Sound knowledge of health and safety at work necessary.

·Presentation of professional and responsible outlook to clients important.

·Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces or at heights.

·Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment.

·Understanding of local electrical codes and regulations.

·Clear credentials (References and Criminal record)

·Valid Driver’s license

·Must reside in South Africa with valid RSA ID number/passport
