Job description

A beverage manufacturer and distributor in South Africa has a permanent employment opportunity for an experienced Stores Manager based in East London.

The purpose of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the raw material and packaging stores department, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatching of raw materials and packaging.

This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the supply chain by ensuring that the raw material and packaging inventory is managed effectively in compliance with FSSC 22000 requirements.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Manage the daily operations of the raw material/packaging stores department in line with FSSC 22000 requirements.
  • Ensure the stores department is clean and organized according to company guidelines.
  • Manage and coordinate the receipt, storage, and dispatch of raw materials to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of raw materials/packaging and resolve any supply chain issues.
Inventory Management :
  • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and stock control.
  • Implement procedures to optimize inventory turnover and reduce waste.
Document Control and Compliance :
  • Implement and maintain an effective document control system that complies with FSSC 22000 requirements.
  • Ensure all records related to stores operations (receiving, inventory, dispatch) are accurate, up-to-date, and easily retrievable.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regularly to reflect current practices and standards.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure documentation meets audit requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audit preparations.
  • Train staff on accurate recordkeeping and document control related to food safety.
Staff Management :
  • Lead and supervise store staff, fostering a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate staff development.
Health and Safety :
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the stores department.
  • Promote a safety-first culture among staff.
Communication and Coordination :
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on store and warehouse activities.
Minimum Requirements :

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in supply chain management, logistics, business management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in warehousing and inventory management, preferably in an FMCG environment.
  • Strong understanding of FMCG supply chain processes and FSSC standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Problem-solving ability and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage multiple priorities.
