We are seeking a Financial Accountant. The position will support and report to the Financial Director, and be responsible for the financial, accounting, and other administrative duties related to our landlord/tenant clients. The company is registered with the PPRA as a property practitioner enterprise with a valid fidelity fund certificate, and it operates a trust account.
REQUIREMENTS
- CA or similar financial accountant qualification
- 15+ years’ experience in the managing agent / property management industry of retail, office & industrial property
- Experience leading statutory and regulatory compliance, including taxation, in financial management for the company and its property owner clients
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS
- Proficiency in preparing and reporting financial statements, management accounts, business plans, budgets, and annual financial statements (AFS)
- Expertise in MDA accounting management software
- Computer literacy with strong Excel skills (MS Office)

DUTIES
Financial accounting
- Prepare and report on financial statements, management accounts, business plans, budgets, and AFS for the company and property owner clients
- Oversee administration, systems, procedures, and controls
Financial operations (FinOps) management
- Manage MDA financial duties
- Handle trust deposits, tenant payments, and third-party fund administration
- Rent reconciliation and journal entries
- Facilitate landlord expenses and municipal/SARS payments
MDA data capturing & reconciliation
- Trust payments, municipal accounts, legal expenses, supplier expenses, VAT, and business receipts
Credit control
- Reconcile landlord accounts and resolve debtor queries
- Manage promise-to-pay arrangements and bad debt collections
- Report to landlords
General administrative duties
- Record keeping, data processing, payments, and payroll management
Tax & accounting standards
- Manage SARS payments and compliance, including UIF, COIDA, PAYE, CGT, VAT, and income tax
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies
Insurance
- Manage company and client insurance requirements
Compliance & governance
- Adhere to company policies, risk management, and statutory regulations such as the Property Practitioners Act, COIDA, FICA, POPIA, PAIA, and sector codes
Client & stakeholder relationship management
- Engage with property owners, tenants, municipalities, contractors, banks, attorneys, auditors, SARS, and other stakeholders
- Manage employees effectively
