Job description

Overview:

Inuka is partnered with a leading renewable energy EPC that delivers large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects across the region. The company is seeking an Energy Systems Engineer to play a key role in developing tailored technical and commercial solutions for utility and private sector clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the key interface between clients, technical teams, and commercial stakeholders
  • Review RFPs and Employer Requirements to guide procurement and technical decisions
  • Identify project risks, constraints, and key considerations for internal evaluation
  • Collaborate with engineering and EPC project managers to develop technical specifications
  • Lead the development of technical and financial models to ensure commercially viable solutions
  • Build project pricing tools and cost assessments to support client proposals
  • Engage with clients, lead meetings, and negotiate contracts through to close
  • Coordinate with finance, legal, procurement, and engineering teams to deliver comprehensive project proposals
  • Prepare technical documentation, including layouts, yield reports, and supporting materials
  • Contribute strategic input to the company’s solution offerings and service roadmap
  • Review environmental documentation to flag potential risks and constraints
  • Monitor and interpret South African energy regulations, wheeling frameworks, and tariff structures

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in solar, wind, or BESS project development and execution
  • Strong technical understanding of solar, wind, and BESS systems
  • Familiarity with South African regulatory frameworks, including ERA, wheeling, and tariffs
  • Proven ability to build financial and technical models for feasibility studies
  • Experience working within local and international project teams across design, engineering, and procurement
  • Proficiency in tools such as HOMER and PVSyst
  • Willingness to travel within Africa and internationally as needed
