Senior Analyst - Business Analysis and Planning

Reporting to and supporting the Copper Africa Business Controller, this role is responsible for supporting all activities and deliverables within the Business Analysis and Planning (BAP) function for Copper Africa, focusing on financial modelling, analysis, and review.

General activities include budgeting, estimates, LOA reviews, activity-based cost reviews, financial analysis, financial modelling, and compiling executive reports and presentations.

The incumbent further supports financial planning cycles of operating sites, develops and maintains detailed planning models, supports planning teams, performs corporate valuations and scenarios, supports strategic and finance projects, and provides guidance and support to finance teams to implement the Copper Africa Finance operating model and objectives.

Qualification & Skill Requirements:
  • Post-graduate degree in Commerce or Accounts
  • CA(SA) or similar post-graduate honours degree (e.g., CIMA)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities

Work Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years' post-article experience, preferably in mining/natural resources
  • Experience in Reporting, Planning, Operational finance, and support functions
  • Exposure to financial modelling and scenario analysis
  • Experience with planning systems like Xeras; SAP or Oracle beneficial
General Accountability:
  • Support BAP activities and deliverables, implementing policies and controls
  • Maintain planning models and ensure accurate cost and capital planning
  • Support financial reporting and planning cycles, ensuring compliance with Group requirements
  • Review and develop planning models, ensuring accuracy and standardization
  • Perform corporate valuations and scenario analyses
  • Support finance teams with market intelligence and business insights
  • Design dashboards and reports for performance metrics
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting aligned with strategic objectives
  • Track KPIs and provide updates to ensure alignment with goals
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Support business development with financial analysis and modeling
