Salary:

£27,000 (full-time equivalent)

Shift Pattern:

30 hours per week, Monday to Sunday (excluding Fridays and Saturdays unless service requires adjustments to rota). Shifts typically between 07:30 - 14:00.

About the role

We are seeking a Chef to join Aspinden Care Home to plan, prepare, and provide healthy, nutritious meals for residents. Aspinden Care Home is a CQC-registered residential care home supporting individuals with alcohol dependency and complex needs. The home adopts a harm reduction approach to help residents achieve personal goals. Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, preparing, and cooking food, then serving residents.
  • Planning and delivering workshops and activities to develop residents' life skills.
  • Preparing food for days off duty.
  • Maintaining the kitchen with supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Keeping the kitchen and communal areas clean and tidy.
  • Ensuring food and beverages are available for residents.
  • Engaging in self-development to stay current with industry standards.
  • Working within budget constraints to ensure cost-effectiveness.
About you

We're looking for someone passionate about cooking, food, and nutrition, with a desire to make a positive impact. You should be proactive, able to take ownership, and use initiative to solve challenges. An understanding of the social challenges faced by individuals with complex needs is essential.

Requirements include:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Food Processing and Cooking or equivalent, with health and safety knowledge.
  • Experience in preparing nutritional meals in a residential or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Health regulations related to catering.
  • Understanding of food legislation.
  • Ability to adapt to IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
  • Flexibility in working patterns to meet service needs.
  • Understanding of social marginalization issues faced by residents.
  • Alignment with SIG’s core values, mission, and vision.
