Job Description: Strategic Technical Buyer

Our client in Gauteng is urgently seeking an experienced Strategic Technical Buyer, preferably with extensive experience in the steel industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring the best products at optimal prices, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the availability of raw materials and consumables necessary for production.

Responsibilities:

1. Procure goods and services ensuring quality, quantity, timing, price, and sourcing to maximize value.
2. Manage a capable and secure supply base to meet business needs through best procurement practices.
3. Lead or participate in successful project deliveries.
4. Utilize SAP MRP data and internal inputs to place, expedite, and reconcile purchase orders.
5. Resolve supplier payment issues and blocked invoice queries.
6. Adhere to policies and educate the business on procurement procedures and systems.
7. Maintain and update sourcing, spend, supply planning, and KPI data weekly.
8. Identify and communicate supply risks to the business.
9. Log and resolve supplier claims and use financial instruments like LOC and bank guarantees to mitigate risks.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned by management or the board.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric certificate.
• 3-year BCom Degree or Diploma.
• SAPICS / CIPS Certification.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, specifically within the steel industry.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost management techniques.
• Understanding of administration, strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
