Job description

Red Ember Recruitment is seeking a Business Development Engineer for an internationally established Defense Industry company. The goal is to expand market share and drive sustainable financial growth by boosting sales, developing products and solutions, and building strong client relationships.

The successful candidate will represent the company and develop effective sales strategies. This role requires a proactive approach to acquiring and closing new business opportunities.

This position involves approximately 60% business development skills and 40% engineering expertise. Preference is given to engineers due to their technical knowledge of the products.

Additional Information:

  • Work beyond normal office hours as needed, depending on workload and international time zones.
  • Remuneration is market-related and depends on qualifications and experience.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and possession of a valid passport are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Availability for immediate start is advantageous.
  • Must be well-presented, IT-efficient, and have reliable transport.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Promoting the company's products/services and anticipating client needs.
  • Preparing sales contracts compliant with legal guidelines.
  • Setting and achieving goals for business growth.
  • Maintaining records of sales, revenue, invoices, and travel.
  • Providing after-sales support and feedback.
  • Developing growth strategies focused on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
  • Researching new markets and customer needs.
  • Contacting potential clients and arranging meetings both domestically and internationally.
  • Identifying new markets and enhancing sales.
  • Planning and implementing marketing initiatives.
  • Attending industry conferences and events.

Qualifications:

  • BEng Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Industrial, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
  • BCom in Marketing or Business.
  • Matric with at least 6 distinctions or an average of 85% (non-negotiable).
