We are seeking a proven track record in Legal STI claims and middle management experience to manage our Legal Claims Department. The Claims Legal General Manager is responsible for managing the operations of a call centre or business segment, including overseeing policies, procedures, and operating structures.

The role involves establishing and implementing product/service standards, analyzing operations for efficiency, and building industry relations through networking. The GM also needs to secure new campaigns from internal clients and build the credibility of the call centre with potential clients.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Standard 10 / NQF 4
  • Applicable Law Degree
  • Post-matric qualifications are advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Legal claims within the Short-Term Insurance Industry for Personal Lines and Commercial Insurance
  • At least 3 years' middle management experience in Legal claims

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Legal Department's performance, operations, reports, system developments, and projects related to various insurance claims and recoveries
  • Manage legal firms' performance, costs, and expenses
  • Manage Manex and Loss Ratios for the Legal Department
  • Review policy wording amendments with Legal and Risk & Compliance
  • Monitor Risk and Compliance related to the Legal Department's risk register
  • Provide legal support across departments
  • Lead and motivate the legal team
