Job description

The Executive Finance RMH will be responsible for overseeing the financial reporting and operational finance aspects of the RMA Business. This includes oversight of internal and external reporting processes and conducting business insights analysis essential for RMH. The incumbent will also be responsible for delivering finance change initiatives and establishing a best-in-class Finance division that provides timely and intelligent insights, along with transactional support to make RMA a Business of Significance.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  1. Manage the reporting department to ensure sound financial control, adherence to policies, and secure processes.
  2. Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff, recommending further courses of action.
  3. Contribute to risk management with inputs for regulatory returns and pursue continuous process improvement.
  4. Review internal processes and ensure adequate internal controls are in place.
  5. Review the Group's annual financial statements for compliance with latest standards.
Success Measures
  • Monthly management accounts
  • Compilation of key business metrics and reporting to management
  • Maintaining the financial health of the organization by monitoring profitability
  • Benchmarking against competitors and reporting on financial analyses
  • Interpreting financial results and recommending improvements
  • Creating additional analyses and reports as needed
  • Developing financial trends and projections
  • Reviewing WIP variances and revising costs as necessary
  • Producing key financial ratios and statistical information
  • Analyzing costs, pricing, sales results, and performance against business plans
3. Budgeting and Business Planning
  1. Manage capital budgeting processes using constraint and discounted cash flow analyses.
  2. Oversee the preparation of the company’s budget and ensure data is collated for planning.
  3. Monitor cost data and ensure alignment with costing systems.
  4. Manage strategic project data and assess their impact on budgets.
  5. Assist in capacity planning and budget management.
Management Of Costs And Analyses
  1. Participate in target costing and benchmarking studies for operational improvements.
  2. Collaborate with the Actuarial team on product pricing strategies.
  3. Review cost models and cost drivers for insurance and administrative expenses.
Oversee Efficient Financial Operations Areas
  1. Ensure internal processes support transactional efficiency.
  2. Develop KPIs for delivery and compliance with legislative requirements.
  3. Maintain targets for premium collections and retentions.
Provide Financial Expertise In The Identification Of New Business / Investment Opportunities
  1. Report on and analyze investment opportunities, feasibility, and profitability.
  2. Develop financial models for outcomes, risks, and returns.
  3. Conduct feasibility studies for expansion and acquisitions.
  4. Partner with the Corporate Finance team for valuations and investment advice.
  5. Prepare proposals and presentations for senior management on investment opportunities.
Staff Management and Leadership
  1. Oversee the finance department, set goals, and provide leadership.
  2. Ensure the team delivers efficient service and meets targets.
Legal and Compliance
  1. Coordinate with auditors and monitor financial compliance.
  2. Identify and advise on financial risks and legislative compliance.
Ad Hoc Projects
  1. Support additional finance reporting and projects as required.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE?

Undergraduate Degree / Honours Tertiary Degree NQF BCom with Articles. Level 7: BCom with Articles CA (SA). Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience, including at least 5 years in a senior managerial role, preferably within a regulated financial services firm. Experience in the life insurance sector is preferred. Proven track record in strategic financial planning, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
