Job description

Job Title: Senior Investigator

Job Location: KwaZulu-Natal, Durban

Deadline: May 23, 2025

Key Responsibility Areas

  1. Inspect and investigate areas including Strategic Risk, Financial Risk, Fraud, Theft, Asset Management and Maintenance, Procurement and Contract Management, Theft of energy, cable and meters, assault, crime, and other transgressions of legislative or council policy.
  2. Review complaints alleging fraud and corruption.
  3. Prioritize investigations based on impact, value, and importance.
  4. Prepare investigation work plans for each case.
  5. Execute preliminary forensic investigations, conduct suspect profiling, utilize field surveillance, interview witnesses and suspects.
  6. Perform forensic analysis of documents, establish the chain of evidence.
  7. Respond to crime scenes and gather evidence.
  8. Coordinate with SAPS, Senior Management, National Prosecuting Authority, and other law enforcement agencies.
  9. Provide evidence in court for criminal prosecutions, civil litigation, misconduct inquiries, and commissions of enquiry.
  10. Investigate syndicates involved in theft of electrical infrastructure.

Essential Requirements

  1. Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Crime Prevention, Investigations, Security Management, or related fields.
  2. Valid Peace Officer certificate or proof of renewal application.
  3. Valid Firearm license or proof of renewal application.
  4. Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  5. At least 4 years of relevant experience.
  6. Computer literacy.

Preferred Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree (NQF Level 7) in Crime Prevention, Investigations, Security Management, or related fields.
  2. At least 5 years of relevant experience.
