Actuarial Pricing Analyst – Short-Term Insurance

Location: Johannesburg | Full-Time | Hybrid

Are you a sharp, data-driven actuarial professional ready to make a measurable impact in the short-term insurance sector? Do you thrive on using analytics to solve real-world problems and influence strategic decisions? If you’ve completed at least 9 actuarial exams and bring 3+ years of pricing experience, this role was made for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an integral part of the actuarial team, you will:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance short-term insurance pricing models using actuarial and statistical methods.

• Provide data-driven insights to support product development, rating structures, and business strategy.

• Collaborate with underwriting, product, and data teams to align pricing with business objectives.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, risk appetite, and actuarial best practices.

• Analyse performance data to recommend model improvements and identify market opportunities.

• Support internal stakeholders with expert actuarial advice and operational input.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• A bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or equivalent.

• At least 3 years’ actuarial pricing experience in the short-term (general) insurance industry.

• A minimum of 9 completed actuarial exams.

• Strong proficiency in statistical software, pricing tools, and data analytics platforms (e.g., R, Python, Emblem, SQL).

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

• A passion for innovation, efficiency, and strategic modelling.
