Job description

This position is site-specific for the duration of the project.

Education and experience:

• No formal education and minimum 20 years relevant experience
• National diploma in Civil Engineering and minimum 10 years relevant experience
• National diploma in Civil Engineering with Pr. Techni Registration and minimum 5 years relevant experience after registration

Registration:

• Pr. Technologist or Pr. Technician with the Engineering Council of SA (ECSA) or any other body recognized by ECSA, i.e., Washington Accord, Dublin Accord, Sydney Accord.
• Experience with Sanral projects is critical
• Experience with COTO (COLTO)

Responsibilities include:

• Quality control and maintenance of test request books
• Monitoring and visual inspections of the works and construction activities
• Monitoring and assessment of material, borrow pit, and quarry utilization
• Coordination of testing activities between the Contractor and the Site Laboratory
• Assessment of laboratory test results and reporting
• Graphic preparation and interpretation of all test results where required
• Mix design, trial section evaluation, and reporting
• Preparation, compilation, and submission of monthly materials reports
• Monthly audits
• Formalizing materials As-Built data and submitting final (approved) reports in accordance with client requirements
• Maintenance of daily site diary
• Any other reasonable requests
