Job description

Christian Brothers' College Boksburg is a Premier Independent Boys' School on the East Rand of Johannesburg, seeking to appoint an experienced Events and Catering Manager.

This full-time role reports to the Deputy Headmaster and collaborates with the Estate Manager, playing a key part in the College's catering management.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivational, and passionate about events and catering. They will drive forward college priorities, notably in relation to equity, inclusion, diversity, sustainability, and affordability, while promoting kindness, positive relationships, and wellbeing.

The candidate should possess outstanding organizational and people management skills, with experience in complex departments and budget management being advantageous. Flexibility, resilience, and leadership qualities are essential.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with learners, parents, staff, colleagues from peer schools, and alumni are crucial. The candidate will serve as a visible, inspiring, and nurturing presence within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Planning, organizing, and executing college events aligned with the mission and goals.
  2. Developing comprehensive event plans covering objectives, target audience, budget, timeline, and logistics.
  3. Venue selection and management, considering capacity and accessibility.
  4. Risk management through contingency planning.
  5. Collaborating with the Marketing Manager on promotion strategies.
  6. Managing event logistics with the Estate Manager, including catering and staffing.
  7. Overseeing event execution, addressing issues as they arise.
  8. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  9. Maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.
  10. Supporting internal and external meetings and events.
  11. Managing the catering operation, including meal production within budget and team management.
  12. Upholding health and safety standards, managing procurement, inventory, and supplier negotiations.
  13. Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  14. Monitoring budgets and preparing financial records.

Requirements:
