Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Safety and Health Legal audits, surveys, and ensure compliance with the OHS Act.
- Investigate and resolve safety issues, including Safety and Health Complaints.
- Review Personal Protective Equipment needs and suitability.
- Coordinate statutory safety-related training and awareness programs.
- Conduct Safety Observation Index audits and injury analysis, developing PJO questionnaires.
- Perform routine internal audits and inspections, logging findings on CCAR trackers/systems.
- Introduce and promote new health and safety initiatives within the plant.
- Facilitate, organize, and implement safety campaigns.
- Conduct regular internal communications through daily meetings and set cadences.
- Verify High Potential Near Miss incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Conduct administrative control audits and provide feedback to relevant areas.
- Update monthly shop scorecards and data.
- Assist Occupational Hygienists with hygiene surveys and action plan development for findings.
- Update daily, weekly, and monthly safety statistics.
- Assist in emergency response planning and execution.
- Manage contractor safety, including training and audits.
- Ensure daily safety focus with checklists and safety walks.
- Investigate incidents, generate reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assess hazards on new layouts before approval.
- Train employees on health and safety importance.
- Update chemical registers and facilitate safety meetings.
- Develop and maintain departmental training needs analyses.
- Perform workstation readiness, audits, and station buy-offs.
- Perform any other safety-related activities as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum National Diploma in Safety Management.
- 2-3 years of experience in Health and Safety.
