Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate Safety and Health Legal audits, surveys, and ensure compliance with the OHS Act.
  2. Investigate and resolve safety issues, including Safety and Health Complaints.
  3. Review Personal Protective Equipment needs and suitability.
  4. Coordinate statutory safety-related training and awareness programs.
  5. Conduct Safety Observation Index audits and injury analysis, developing PJO questionnaires.
  6. Perform routine internal audits and inspections, logging findings on CCAR trackers/systems.
  7. Introduce and promote new health and safety initiatives within the plant.
  8. Facilitate, organize, and implement safety campaigns.
  9. Conduct regular internal communications through daily meetings and set cadences.
  10. Verify High Potential Near Miss incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  11. Conduct administrative control audits and provide feedback to relevant areas.
  12. Update monthly shop scorecards and data.
  13. Assist Occupational Hygienists with hygiene surveys and action plan development for findings.
  14. Update daily, weekly, and monthly safety statistics.
  15. Assist in emergency response planning and execution.
  16. Manage contractor safety, including training and audits.
  17. Ensure daily safety focus with checklists and safety walks.
  18. Investigate incidents, generate reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  19. Assess hazards on new layouts before approval.
  20. Train employees on health and safety importance.
  21. Update chemical registers and facilitate safety meetings.
  22. Develop and maintain departmental training needs analyses.
  23. Perform workstation readiness, audits, and station buy-offs.
  24. Perform any other safety-related activities as required.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum National Diploma in Safety Management.
  2. 2-3 years of experience in Health and Safety.
