Who are we?

Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM], a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited, is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It offers simple and affordable financial solutions such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover, and personal accident plans. SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster within the Sanlam Group, focusing on retail products and group schemes.

Purpose of the Role
  • Promote Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM)’s products and increase market share by:
    • Providing sound financial advice and high-quality client service in a branch setting.
    • Creating opportunities for client optimization and cross-selling value-added services.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Sales delivery and product knowledge
  2. Understanding customer needs, financial goals, and providing suitable products
  3. Updating clients on new or changed products and managing their portfolios accordingly
  4. Validating client details and submitting new business through proper channels
  5. Conducting client due diligence to identify risks
  6. Managing own capacity and prioritizing appointments
  7. In-branch client service and retention activities
  8. Servicing and managing client profiles, including follow-ups and reminders
  9. Managing client risk profiles and support requirements
  10. Handling client queries and resolving issues or escalating when necessary
  11. Maintaining compliance and quality standards, including CPD points
  12. Identifying risks and potential fraudulent activities
  13. Logging activities and providing data for reporting
  14. Reporting on activities and performing ad-hoc tasks as required
Qualifications
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • RE5 advantageous
  • FAIS Compliant (Wealth Management)
  • Class of Business training within 12 months of employment

  • 1-year experience in sales or marketing; insurance experience is a plus
