Job description

Clinical Training Specialist

Introduction: A vacancy exists for a Clinical Training Specialist, reporting to the Nurse Manager.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage in-service training and student training programs according to the Life College of Learning programs.
  2. Coordinate and participate in nursing competency requirements and hospital nursing strategies.
  3. Provide coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure clinical competence.
  4. Manage risk-based in-service training programs, including quality assurance.
  5. Participate in incident investigations and hospital quality projects, providing feedback and corrective actions.
  6. Identify risks and ensure competent use of products through in-service training.
  7. Oversee internal and external student clinical programs, including planning, facilitation, and evaluation.
  8. Participate in the selection of students and manage student administration and resources.
  9. Identify learning opportunities and facilitate clinical skills development.
  10. Provide feedback on student progress and support research projects within the hospital environment.
  11. Identify clinical delivery problems and develop action plans.
  12. Promote the nursing profession through marketing initiatives and community involvement.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Diploma / Degree in Nursing
  • Qualification in Nursing Education / Assessor and moderation advantageous
  • Qualification in Psychiatric Nursing Science advantageous
  • Post-registration nursing and training experience within a healthcare environment
  • Current registration with SANC and Registered Assessor with SANC
  • Proven clinical leadership expertise
  • Knowledge of legislation governing nursing practice and education systems
  • Understanding of change management principles
  • Facilitation and assessment skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Driver's license
