Responsibilities
  1. Direct district fiscal functions according to accounting principles and district policies.
  2. Prepare and monitor budgets, including long-range financial planning.
  3. Prepare year-end financial statements and coordinate audits.
  4. Oversee monthly financial reports and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  5. Manage district cash flow and recommend investments.
  6. Ensure timely bank reconciliations.
  7. Provide financial information for decision-making and keep leadership informed.
  8. Participate in county and state organizations regarding school finance reform.
  9. Coordinate expenditures with grant applications and ensure compliance.
  10. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  11. Manage tax-related activities, including transfers, appeals, and valuations.
  12. Administer investment of funds and supervise insurance programs.
  13. Serve as a resource for negotiations and legal compliance.
  14. Estimate revenues and plan expenditures according to laws.
  15. Maintain documentation of business transactions and contracts.
  16. Utilize technology tools for finance tasks and data entry.
  17. Coordinate with HR on financial practices regarding personnel.
  18. Oversee district purchasing and enforce policies.
  19. Develop systems aligned with the district’s strategic plan.
  20. Oversee the food services program.
  21. Meet deadlines and maintain regular attendance.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting (required)
  • Master’s Degree (preferred)
  • MSBO Certification as a CFO (preferred)
  • Minimum of five years financial experience, preferably in a public K-12 district or ISD
