Responsibilities
- Direct district fiscal functions according to accounting principles and district policies.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, including long-range financial planning.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and coordinate audits.
- Oversee monthly financial reports and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Manage district cash flow and recommend investments.
- Ensure timely bank reconciliations.
- Provide financial information for decision-making and keep leadership informed.
- Participate in county and state organizations regarding school finance reform.
- Coordinate expenditures with grant applications and ensure compliance.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Manage tax-related activities, including transfers, appeals, and valuations.
- Administer investment of funds and supervise insurance programs.
- Serve as a resource for negotiations and legal compliance.
- Estimate revenues and plan expenditures according to laws.
- Maintain documentation of business transactions and contracts.
- Utilize technology tools for finance tasks and data entry.
- Coordinate with HR on financial practices regarding personnel.
- Oversee district purchasing and enforce policies.
- Develop systems aligned with the district’s strategic plan.
- Oversee the food services program.
- Meet deadlines and maintain regular attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting (required)
- Master’s Degree (preferred)
- MSBO Certification as a CFO (preferred)
- Minimum of five years financial experience, preferably in a public K-12 district or ISD
