UPS Technician – Cape Town – Market related Salary

A renowned Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) supplier based in Cape Town is seeking an experienced UPS (electronic) Technician to handle site installation, maintenance, and repairs of a wide variety of UPS and battery backup systems.

We’re looking for someone with:
  • In-depth technical knowledge of UPS systems (power electronic systems, control circuits, and components).
  • Analytical aptitude, capable of fault finding and repairing UPS systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • A solutions-driven, customer-oriented mindset to build long-lasting positive relationships with clients.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions as necessary.
  • Flexibility to work in a changing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Service UPS and battery systems at customer sites.
  • Produce accurate and detailed service reports and logs.
  • Diagnose UPS faults by testing to component level, recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage on-site installation and commissioning of new UPS systems (typically between 10 and 400 kVA).
  • Perform on-site battery replacements for small and large UPS systems.
  • Provide technical support via telephone to assess UPS systems.
  • Attend after-hours callouts as required.
  • Support the Sales Department through site visits, application identification, and equipment selection.
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least 8 years of experience as a UPS Technician.
  • National N6 Diploma and trade test in Electrical Engineering (Light Current/Electronics).
  • Advanced computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid Code B driver’s license.
  • Physically fit and willing to undertake large UPS and battery installations and replacements.
  • Experience in implementing small projects.
Offer:
  • Salary negotiable based on experience (range R30,000 to R45,000 per month).
