Job description

Blue Chip Bryanston Company is seeking a Team Player Technician with a minimum of 2 years of Linux experience.

Duties Include:

  1. Knowledge of various server platforms, e.g., standalone, Hyper-V, other VM applications, and cloud-based server hosting.
  2. Setup and maintenance of servers loaded with various Linux OS variants, e.g., CentOS and Rocky Linux.
  3. Ability to navigate system directories and filing systems.
  4. Ability to edit and manipulate files in the Linux shell.
  5. Set up and maintain user permission configurations in Linux.
  6. Manage package installation and software management across different Linux OS variants.
  7. Identify and apply different filesystem types.
  8. Use Linux commands for process management, system maintenance, and monitoring.
  9. Perform basic troubleshooting and debugging of OS and application-related hardware installations.
  10. Familiarity with networking components such as SD-branch, WANs, VLANs, SASE technologies, and VPNs.
  11. Apply networking knowledge to configure network settings on local and remote servers.
  12. Experience with networking management basics such as network traffic packet capture, routers, firewalls, and troubleshooting.
  13. Assess system security risks and implement safeguard measures.
  14. Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based operating systems, servers, networks, and applications.
  15. Troubleshoot issues and resolve user problems.
  16. Manage system security, including creating backup and recovery policies.
  17. Ensure data access and integrity by setting user permissions.
  18. Identify potential issues and implement protective measures.
  19. Possession of Grade 12, CompTIA Linux certification is advantageous.
  20. Strong English writing and oral skills.
  21. Valid driving license for onsite installations and support.
  22. Office competency.
  23. Willingness to work in a hybrid (office/remote) environment.
