Job description

Summary of role:

A road civils company dealing in Asphalting, tarring, patching, relaying and paving of national roads and highways based around the greater Durban region has the following vacant position:

Role: Senior QS

Location: Durban, KZN

Qualifications:

• National Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Science or related experience.
• Minimum 5-10 years' experience in Quantity Surveying and Construction Industry, within the roads building and infrastructure industry including 3 years' experience in a senior role.
• Experience working with roads construction (SANRAL).
• Able to complete measurements, work independently and with strong professionalism and communication skills.
• Experience with CCS and QS Microsoft Packages.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Calculate quantities and costs for materials, labour and timeframes.
• Prepare tender packages and contracts, including BOQ.
• Analyze repair/Maintenance costs, new contract costs and negotiate contracts and schedules.
• Conduct feasibility studies to vet proposed projects.
• Manage risks, value Engineering and cost control measures.
• Consult with clients to understand their requirements.
• Ensure compliancy with regulations and quality standards.
• Analyze outcomes and provide budget/progress reports.
• Oversee and value contractors work for claims.
