We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Courier Operations Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operations of courier services. This role ensures couriers perform tasks effectively, schedules are adhered to, and all deliveries meet company standards for timeliness and quality. The supervisor is also responsible for addressing operational issues and maintaining staff motivation during shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Shift Operations Management
- Supervise all courier activities to ensure smooth and timely deliveries.
- Monitor the progress of deliveries via tracking systems and adjust routes or resources as needed.
- Address and resolve operational issues, including delivery delays, route changes, or emergencies.
- Monitor and optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency and reduce delivery times.
- Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained and meet safety and legal requirements.
- Coordinate with the Inbound/Warehouse Manager for the timely execution of picking according to planned deliveries and collections.
- Resolve delivery queries and check that goods are loaded correctly to prevent damage.
- Manage the allocation of trucks, drivers, and routes for delivery.
- Schedule and manage pick-ups, returns, re-deliveries, and collections, addressing any anomalies throughout the day.
- Collaborate with Returns/Complaints departments on related issues.
- Team Supervision
- Assign tasks to couriers and ensure proper workload distribution.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and provide ongoing support during shifts.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Track courier performance and prepare shift reports.
- Identify operational challenges and escalate them appropriately.
- Lead and evaluate team members, conducting coaching and training as needed.
- Manage scheduling, attendance, and personnel issues.
- Report on KPIs such as delivery times, customer satisfaction, and costs.
- Implement process improvements and utilize technology for route optimization.
- Act as liaison between staff and management, facilitating communication.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve bottlenecks.
- Prepare regular operational reports for senior management.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, returns, and incidents.
- Coordinate vehicle and equipment maintenance to prevent downtime.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure couriers are equipped with necessary safety gear and comply with safety standards.
- Enforce safety protocols and monitor compliance with safety policies and legislation.
- Manage fleet safety, conduct maintenance checks, and adhere to OHSA legislation.
- Attend safety meetings and address safety concerns.
- Customer Service
- Serve as the primary contact for customer inquiries and complaints.
- Resolve delivery issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure couriers provide courteous service and maintain a professional image.
- Monitor customer feedback for continuous improvement.
- Manage customer expectations and communicate effectively.
