The purpose of the job is to plan and manage the operational requirements of warehousing shifts at the right cost and at the right quality standards.
Key Functional Responsibilities:
- Manage shift expenditures within budget; investigate cost overruns and implement countermeasures.
- Monitor and enforce procedural compliance; ensure all shift staff are trained on company procedures and take corrective action for non-conformances.
- Pursue continuous improvements actively; hold staff accountable.
- Discipline and train staff consistently; schedule and conduct staff meetings.
- Resolve staff issues and queries promptly.
- Train and develop staff.
- Make decisions guided by company values.
- Remind employees of company values consistently.
- Plan shifts in advance, including staffing and equipment according to volume and timing; report on shift outcomes (Plan vs. Actual).
- Ensure accurate recording of staff time and attendance.
- Communicate the shift plan before the shift starts.
- Correct unsafe matters immediately during the shift.
- Complete and accurate shift documentation for all activities; file documentation upon shift completion.
Shift Quality:
- Monitor quality compliance on every shift; ensure compliance with DQSP requirements.
- Take corrective action for all quality non-conformances.
- Responsible for quality control and rejection of products out of specifications.
Cost Control:
- Manage shift expenditures within budget; investigate cost overruns and implement countermeasures.
Procedural Compliance:
- Monitor and enforce procedural compliance on shift.
- Ensure all staff are trained on company procedures.
- Take corrective action for all non-conformances.
Reporting:
- Submit accurate shift reports; meet report deadlines.
- Explain shift achievements versus shift plans.
Administration:
- Ensure complete and accurate shift documentation for all activities; file documentation upon shift completion.

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 is compulsory with a relevant tertiary degree; Honours degree in Business/Supply Chain Management or similar.
- 3-5 years of experience in warehousing & distribution, transport, FMCG, or QRS management.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy in MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and advanced (WMS) skills and GP skills.
