Job description

Salary:

Market-related salary will be offered, based on skills and experience.

Position:

We are seeking a Junior or Mid-level Wetland Specialist with 2-5 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in wetland delineation and classification, wetland vegetation identification, and applying published wetland assessment tools (e.g., WET-Health and WET-EcoServices). Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, strong scientific report writing abilities, and the capacity to manage projects independently and effectively.

Requirements:
  1. BSc Honours Degree in an appropriate environmental field or equivalent (MSc preferred);
  2. At least two (2) years of post-qualification experience in wetland assessments;
  3. SACNASP Professional Registration;
  4. Proven experience in wetland delineation, assessment, offsetting, mitigation strategies, and rehabilitation;
  5. GIS expertise;
  6. Experience in aquatic and hydropedology assessments is advantageous;
  7. Own vehicle;
  8. Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus;
  9. Excellent scientific report writing skills;
  10. Experience in proposal and tender compilation and management;
  11. Familiarity with the National Water Act, 1998 (Act 36 of 1998), and related policies and legislation;
  12. Innovative thinking, negotiation, and networking skills;
  13. Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  14. Good interpersonal and teamwork abilities;
  15. Willingness to travel extensively and work extended hours when necessary;
  16. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  17. Fluency in English; additional languages are advantageous.
