An established industry player is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to ensure compliance with hygiene and quality standards in a dynamic packhouse environment. The role involves overseeing QC procedures, training staff, and conducting inspections to maintain product integrity. Verify that correct hygiene procedures are being followed.
Verify that correct fruit handling procedures are being followed.
Verify that correct temperature procedures are being followed.
Assist & oversee QC Supervisor with shelf life assessments.
Assist QC Supervisor with QC staff and task management.
Assist & oversee with trials as requested.
Oversee / Advise QC function in packhouse.
Measure and evaluate all QC's in packhouse.
Oversee the QC-IN, QC-Online / out procedures.
Train new team members on QC procedures.
Conduct continuous refresher training for the QC team.
Assign duties to QC team.
Oversee and assist with the communication of inspection results.
Perform ad hoc inspections throughout the entire process as necessary to assist with decision making.
Advise shift leaders, production managers, and QC manager of any information that could impact product quality.
Follow up inspections after non-conforming results are obtained.
Ensure that equipment and tools used for QC tasks are maintained and handled appropriately.
Ensure that all records completed by QC staff are correct, accurate, and submitted on time.
Report any employee relations or disciplinary concerns to QA manager and Human Resources.
Assist in ensuring that packhouse personnel follow good hygiene practices and comply with hygiene rules at all times.
Monitor the facility for any pest activity or foreign body contamination.
Promote good hygiene practices in all activities and report unhygienic practices.
Perform other duties as requested by management.
Complete all compliance tasks as required by Shift Manager, e.g., cleaning checklists.
Ensure that all traceability procedures are strictly adhered to.
The successful candidate must be willing to work from 8:00 to 17:00 out of season and from 8:00 to 20:00 during the harvest and packing peak season (approximately 3 months a year).
