CPT-CDJ-1 Our client based in Richard's Bay is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee the accounting activities and reporting of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
As a Senior Accountant, your role involves preparing and reporting monthly and quarterly financial statements, tax submissions, implementing accounting procedures, performing analysis of financial data, and enhancing organizational performance.
As part of an international group, you will also be involved in group intercompany reconciliation and consolidation.
Additionally, you will play a key role in coordinating audits, managing tax compliance, and supporting the growth and development of the Finance team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide monthly analysis of financial performance with an in-depth review of balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger by supporting and reviewing accounting processes.
- Prepare and submit group quarterly reporting.
- Perform local and international intercompany reconciliation.
- Generate and analyze aging reports monthly to identify overdue payments and outstanding receivables, and take proactive measures to resolve issues and improve cash flow.
- Review month-end payments process to ensure accuracy, compliance, and internal control effectiveness, verifying authorization and documentation to prevent errors and fraud.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure policy compliance.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensure compliance with tax laws, and support tax audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits by providing requested documents and explanations.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, including acquisition, depreciation, and disposal.
- Liaise with Warehouse Management for cyclical and bi-annual stock takes and reconciliations.
- Regularly assess inventory levels and turnover rates to optimize management strategies.
- Review insurance policies for adequate coverage and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist with quarterly statistics submissions.
- Support the development of new financial models to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
- Contribute to the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Maintain and optimize accounting software and financial systems.
- Assist in financial planning activities and investment evaluations.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested.
Education & Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance; CA (SA) preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices, regulations, IFRS, and tax laws.
Experience Required:
- 10 years proven work experience in an accounting role, ideally in Manufacturing and/or Project Management industries.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Experience in enhancing and motivating a positive team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Auditing background preferred.
- SAP experience beneficial.
- Knowledge in IT, VBA, SQL, and/or Power BI advantageous.
