Job description

Our client based in Germiston is seeking a Millwright to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring departmental compliance with HSE cardinal rules and reinforcing the department’s safety culture.

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Health and Safety responsibilities.
  • Monitor compliance with HSE cardinal rules and promote safety culture.
  • Implement and enforce SOPs.
  • Report USACs, near misses, incidents, and injuries to the Line Manager and SHEQ.
  • Inspect safety devices as per PM schedules and maintain records (E/Stops, speed monitors, rope switches, Castell key units, etc.).
  • Adhere to LOTO procedures before working on equipment.
  • Conduct risk assessments and inspections before shifts.
  • Collaborate with SHEQ officers on safety measures.
  • Follow and implement departmental baseline risk assessment recommendations.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Regularly check safety devices and keep proper records.
  • Maintain lighting to meet legal illumination standards.
  • Implement the 5S principles in the area of responsibility.
  • Perform lubrication, cleaning, and repairs on tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Attend to breakdowns and installations on-site and off-site.
  • Inspect piping, tanks, and perform preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, pumps, fans, bearings, and conveyance systems.
  • Ensure electrical equipment functionality at 97%.
  • Calibrate weighing equipment and conduct daily equipment inspections.
  • Assist in planning maintenance and repairs, including shutdowns.
  • Manage spare parts and document issues for repairs.
  • Inspect and service process equipment, laboratories, offices, and utilities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and ensure timely actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Requirements:
  • Trade Test Millwright/Electrical or related qualification.
  • Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing setup.
  • Basic management and supervisory skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Competency in Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
