Job description

Job Title: Government Affairs Senior Specialist

The Government Affairs Senior Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing policy and government affairs objectives across various priorities, including healthcare reform, pricing and reimbursement, trade, intellectual property protection, and therapeutic area policy. The position will be a key member of the Government Affairs and Policy team, collaborating with government entities and policy organizations in South Africa and SSA.

Responsibilities
  1. Policy: Monitor and analyze political and legislative developments, assess impacts on Organon's business, and develop proactive strategies. Collaborate with regional colleagues to identify policy priorities and execute policy projects, including advocacy campaigns, ESG initiatives, and policy messaging. Maintain understanding of policy trends through engagement with think tanks and relevant bodies. Drive policy strategies to address health-specific challenges and manage policy crises.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the company in various settings, build relationships with influencers and decision-makers, and partner with internal teams like market access and regulatory affairs.
  3. Advocacy: Develop advocacy plans to leverage opportunities and mitigate threats, providing alternative solutions to policy challenges.
  4. Strategic and Commercial Support: Support strategic initiatives aligned with leadership priorities, collaborate with business areas, and ensure compliance with South African regulations and company policies.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in public policy issues related to pharmaceuticals or healthcare.
  • Proven success in managing high-level stakeholders and knowledge of healthcare public policy in South Africa and SSA.
  • Experience with government and NGO organizations active in public policy.
  • Strong understanding of the access and reimbursement environment and healthcare policy processes.
  • University or professional degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, Policy, or related fields.
