Job description

Network Security Specialist Job Description

The Network Security Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network security controls aligned with best practices. The role involves deploying security solutions according to approved architecture blueprints and managing SAMSA’s network infrastructure and security devices, including firewalls, routers, wireless access points, switches, and VPNs.

Key responsibilities include configuring and maintaining VPNs, VLANs, VoIP, web, and email security protocols; analyzing vulnerabilities and identifying threat patterns; monitoring security gateways, perimeter defenses, access controls, and endpoint security to ensure system reliability and availability. The specialist conducts periodic security testing such as penetration tests, maintains SOPs for network security, and provides end-user support for HQ staff.

Additional duties involve provisioning end-user devices, deploying security solutions across environments (including cloud), reviewing security alerts, managing and auditing security logs, and coordinating with external security service providers. The role also includes conducting security assessments, developing ICT policies, and monitoring service provider performance to meet SLA targets.
