Job description

MSALABS is a provider of geochemical laboratory services for the exploration and mining industries. At MSALABS, we provide analytical services suitable from greenfields exploration through to mine closure, including sample preparation, a complete range of analytical techniques and construction and management of complete on-site laboratories.

We are currently seeking a Regional QAQC Coordinator to support and enhance the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions across our regional operations.

Regional QAQC Coordinator

Location: Africa

Responsibilities

  • Review completed analytical reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with required standards
  • Perform internal audits across laboratories and franchise locations to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and MSALABS' quality management system
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical support to laboratory staff on quality assurance standards and best practices
  • Investigate and resolve customer concerns related to data quality, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Analyze laboratory statistical data to monitor process control and detect potential biases
  • Compile and present QAQC reports to management and operational teams
  • Identify and implement methods for operational efficiency improvements and cost savings
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new technologies and methods within the QAQC framework
  • Monitor and assess current analytical methods, recommending improvements as necessary
  • Provide administrative support and user assistance for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), including troubleshooting and communicating development needs
  • Deliver training to laboratory staff on LIMS functionalities and updates
  • Perform gap analyses for franchise laboratories to ensure alignment with MSALABS procedures and standards, and coordinate action plans for compliance
  • Support new country entries by providing QAQC input for laboratory setups and operational readiness
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date quality assurance documentation and records
  • Participate actively in Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) initiatives, and refuse any unsafe work practices

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Science, or a related field
  • Formal training in ISO 17025 system requirements and internal auditing techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in laboratory operations, with strong exposure to quality assurance functions
  • Practical experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and laboratory digital systems is an advantage

Additional Requirements

  • Must be physically fit to meet the job’s inherent requirements
  • Willingness to travel to laboratory sites as required, including internationally
