Position: Manager Corporate Communications

Location: Sandton, South Africa

Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the Manager Corporate Communications position in the NSO (Sandton). This role is responsible for planning and implementing external communication activities that positively position, promote, strengthen, and protect the reputation of Volkswagen Group Africa, its brands, and its subsidiaries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The incumbent will develop plans and execute projects supporting VWGA's corporate communications and marketing strategies, including media and public relations in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Possible Tasks within this Role
  1. Develop & manage corporate communication and media relations strategies.
  2. Identify challenges and emerging issues in the automotive sector; work with leadership to recognize communication opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate reputational risks.
  3. Manage corporate social media strategies, leveraging media relations and social listening insights.
  4. Identify and implement partnership & sponsorship opportunities with media, influencers, and key entities to support VWGA's business goals.
  5. Manage incidents and issues to protect and enhance VWGA's reputation.
  6. Develop and implement crisis communication plans.
  7. Create executive-level content and thought leadership materials.
  8. Manage media strategies, tactical plans, and content related to corporate announcements and events.
  9. Research and write corporate media releases.
  10. Arrange and facilitate media training for senior management.
  11. Provide media relations support to build a cohesive Pan-African reputation.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in corporate communications and media relations.
  • Proven leadership and strategic communication skills.
  • Strong networking abilities across media, government, and private sectors.
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in crisis communication and project management.
