Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join their finance team. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Record Keeping: Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial transactions, receipts, invoices, and bills.
• Accounts Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Budgeting: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, highlighting variances and proposing corrective actions.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare and file timely tax returns, ensuring compliance with local and national tax laws.
• Audit Support: Collaborate with auditors during financial audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Expense Management: Monitor and control expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in financial operations.

• Financial Expertise: In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records and reports.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret financial data and make recommendations.
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration with team members.
• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ethical Conduct: Commitment to ethical accounting practices and confidentiality.

• Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
• Preferably a minimum of 5 years working experience in the following:
• General accounting and financial reporting;
• Processing onto and extraction of information from an ERP system;
• Competence in an ERP system (preferably JDE), SAP, Software Reporting, Microsoft and/or Google products.
• Knowledge of the VAT Act, as amended from time to time.
• Knowledge of accounting and management principles and procedures.
• Good planning, organisational, time management and problem solving skills.
• Ability to analyse and present information, manage deadlines and function under pressure.
• Be customer focused and exhibit good people and communication skills.
