Job description

This career opportunity is available in the Non-Motor region, based in Bloemfontein.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The successful candidate will determine the quantum and merit of segmented non-motor claims by performing investigations, verifying event descriptions with the loss, negotiating with clients, intermediaries, and service providers, and settling claims within delegated thresholds and according to contract conditions.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE?
  • Receiving instructions from Claims Service Consultant (appraisal notes & documents).
  • Checking completeness and correctness of documents and policy conditions.
  • Planning routes for claims, making arrangements, and contacting clients.
  • Identifying what is required and outstanding from clients.
  • Deciding on investigations needed and whether specialist expertise (e.g., builder, engineer) is required.
  • Assessing risks to provide recommendations to underwriting.
  • Appointing specialist resources if necessary.
  • Interacting with authorities like police and weather bureau to assess merit.
  • Comparing collected information to policy requirements and claim details.
  • Determining appropriate replacements and assessing risk.
  • Deciding and negotiating on replacement, cash, or claims card options.
  • Authorizing repairs or cash settlements.
  • Writing claims reports and updating the central claims file.
  • Handling and resolving client/broker complaints promptly and fairly.
  • Managing relationships with clients, brokers, service providers, and internal stakeholders (relationship managers, claims committee, underwriters).
  • Ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics

At least five (5) years of relevant experience in digital non-motor claims assessment (full spectrum), with field assessing experience advantageous.

Seven (7) or more years' relevant claims assessment experience (non-motor, full spectrum).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • All relevant product training completed.
  • Familiarity with IM external systems.
  • Experience in adjusting processes, assessor reporting tools, building terminology, repair estimation for building damage, indemnity issues, non-standard roofing (thatching), floor coverings, gyproc, building repair calculators, and advanced electronic equipment.
  • Ability to conduct investigations on buildings, contents, and fire incidents.
