Job summary

A leading pathology diagnostic client is seeking an experienced and registered Laboratory Animal Technologist to join their Johannesburg team. The role requires a strong background in animal health, with responsibilities including supervision, maintaining health status of animals, and performing scientific testing. Candidates must hold an NQF 6 or higher qualification and be registered with the SA Veterinary Council, along with a minimum of two years' experience in the field.

Qualifications

• No less than 2 years' experience as a Lab Animal Technologist.
• Great track record in supervision and communication.

Responsibilities

• 2IC Supervisor in case of absence.
• Draft and maintain SOP's.
• Maintain health status of animals.
• Perform scientific testing.
• Drive safety and QC of anti-venom products.
• Supervise animal breeding.

Knowledge of scientific procedures

Knowledge of lab animal breeding systems

Knowledge of Good Lab practice

Knowledge of SPF barrier units

Knowledge of how to administer and withdraw fluids on lab animals
