Job description

MANAGER - LOGISTICS

Manage the Logistics Department, including all deliveries, dispatching, and personnel, for a dynamic manufacturer specializing in polyethylene supplies. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and documenting delivery schedules for outgoing shipments, obtaining updated quotes from third-party transport companies, and overseeing weekly and monthly stocktakes of raw materials, finished goods, work-in-progress, and redundant stock.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience & Skills:

  • At least 5+ years proven experience as a Logistics Manager or in a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of Warehouse Management, Inventory Control, and Supply Chain Management principles.
  • Proficiency in Route Planning, Fleet Management, Vehicle Maintenance, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage all aspects of the Logistics Department, including personnel and operations.
  2. Plan and document delivery schedules, optimizing for cost and efficiency.
  3. Oversee route planning, vehicle operation, and maintenance.
  4. Coordinate stock preparation, picking, and packing for deliveries.
  5. Obtain transport quotes regularly and manage third-party logistics providers.
  6. Supervise logistics staff, ensuring adherence to company policies on safety, hygiene, and conduct.
  7. Monitor vehicle fuel usage, mileage, and servicing schedules.
  8. Ensure the safekeeping of company petrol cards.
  9. Manage receipt and inspection of customer returns.
  10. Oversee stocktakes and maintain accurate records of waste movements and stock levels.
