Introduction
Tracker requires the services of a Lead Data Engineer, a technical leadership role responsible for the effective and high-quality delivery of analysis, design, development, and maintenance of large-scale products and services in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, MSSQL, SSAS, SSRS, Reporting, PowerBI, Business Intelligence, ETL, Azure data processing, and relevant non-SQL data environments.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
- Provide technical leadership in the delivery of Data Engineering products and solutions within and across teams.
- Provide effective technical management and guidance to Data Engineering staff.
- Align delivery with Tracker and Data Science team strategies.
- Contribute to annual salary reviews as needed.
Delivery of Data Engineering Projects
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, with desired functionality and quality.
- Assist in defining and designing technical implementations, collaborating with managers, team leads, and architects.
Best Practice, Quality, and Testing
- Meet best practice criteria in evaluation and testing of all data code.
- Ensure adherence to these practices by team members.
System Maintenance and Support
- Complete work orders promptly.
- Maintain and enhance systems, SQL codebases, and data products.
Knowledge Transfer
- Share knowledge and document designs and systems.
- Mentor and coach team members.
Engineering Processes and Environment
- Follow best practice development processes and standards.
- Use development tools effectively.
Knowledge and Skills
- Stay updated with industry trends.
Business and Leadership Acumen
- Demonstrate customer focus and cross-functional expertise.
- Exhibit strong technical leadership qualities.
Qualifications and Training
- Degree/Diploma or 4+ years relevant experience; 6+ years preferred.
- Experience in data science, analytics, or BI is advantageous.
- Leadership experience and Azure certifications are beneficial.
Technical Knowledge
- Deep understanding of MSSQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS.
- Hands-on SQL, ETL, and data warehousing experience.
- Experience with large data warehouses and tabular/cube models.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate business needs into reports and presentations.
Technologies and Tools
- Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban).
- Programming skills in Excel, SQL, DAX, Power Query, Python.
- Knowledge of QGIS is advantageous.
