Overall purpose of the role:
To assist employers in protecting their employees, Sanlam Group Risk offers group risk products – designed to insure employees and protect their families in the event of long-term illness or injury or death while working. Along with retirement savings, group risk benefits such as life insurance, group accident insurance, disability income protection, and group critical illness form the backbone of staff benefit packages.
The Senior Medical Advisor role focuses on optimising risk profits from risk products for all business entities in Sanlam Group Risk. This necessitates continued research and development, data analysis, establishing underwriting and claims assessment policies, assisting with product design, development, and pricing, as well as conducting quality control of risk ratings by the underwriting and claims teams. Collaboration with smaller units and projects within the larger Sanlam Life Insurance framework may be necessary from time to time. The successful candidate must be willing to travel nationally if required.
