Job description

An exciting opportunity exists at Nampak Metals-Springs for a Quality Assurance Technologist (QAT). This position reports directly to the Head of Quality Assurance and is graded at Peromnes 08.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring successful statistical control of processes during production in the Ends Plant
  • Evaluate statistical results and monitor CpK values for the plant
  • Generate accurate and timely weekly and monthly reports
  • Ensure divisional standards and processes are in place for the calibration, verification and maintenance of key equipment in the plant
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and FSSC systems on site
  • Participating in preparation of third party quality and food safety audits
  • Ensuring food safety verification requirements are met at all times
  • Liaise with customers regarding complaints and provide feedback on resolutions
  • Act as Plant Quality & Food Safety Pillar Champion
  • Ensuring compliance with the Q-Pulse system and divisional procedures
  • Provide training on Quality, Food Safety, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) as required
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant ISO, business, and customer standards across the plant
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits
  • Work with Engineering and production to ensure CQ’s are run on nominal
  • Ensure correct isolation process followed in out of control situations as per plant procedure
  • Apply problem-solving techniques for customer complaints and quality alerts
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to specifications on Datalyser

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should posses:

  • A relevant degree or BTech in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related Quality Management qualification
  • A Statistical Process Control qualification
  • 5 years’ experience in a quality function within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in statistical process control and use of related software
  • In-depth knowledge of quality and food safety systems and their implementation
  • Demonstrate; confidence, good communication skills and a sense of urgency
  • Solid computer literacy and skills
