Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
  1. Ensure compliance with health and safety measures at all times.
  2. Perform preventive equipment maintenance as per schedule.
  3. Record temperature readings and equipment maintenance daily in accordance with SOPs, ensuring documents are accessible and retrievable.
  4. Maintain compliance with laboratory Turnaround Time (TAT) and uphold daily standards.
  5. Manage stock efficiently on the bench, receive samples, and determine if samples are acceptable for further analysis.
  6. Perform tests in accordance with SOPs.
  7. Verify test results.
  8. Understand the physical and chemical principles of the analyses performed.
  9. Complete corrective actions and troubleshooting logs for QC and equipment failures.
  10. Run Instrument Quality Controls (IQC) and External Quality Assessments (EQA).
  11. Record Non-Compliance (NC) and Customer Complaints.
  12. Manage Overdue and Pending Action Lists.
  13. Identify results outside expected or reference ranges and report abnormal findings as per SOP.
  14. Perform Data Checks according to SOP.
  15. Adhere to the standards of professional conduct established by the organization and professional bodies.
  16. Handle Uncertainty of Measurement appropriately.
  17. Participate in Inter-Lab Comparisons and Validations.
  18. Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma in Biomedical Technology or Bachelor of Health Science: National Laboratory Science/NQF level 6 or 7.
  • Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Technologist in Clinical Pathology.

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience.
