The Coffee Shop Manager in Northwold, Randburg

Would oversee the daily operations of a small coffee shop on the premises of the Ann Harding Cheshire Home, including managing a small staff and volunteers, ensuring customer service, and overseeing financial transactions.

They would be responsible for managing one employee and volunteers, as well as ensuring the smooth running of the coffee shop.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Staff Management: Managing one staff member and volunteers to ensure efficient and effective service.
  2. Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service and resolving any issues or complaints.
  3. Operational Efficiency: Ensuring the coffee shop operates smoothly, including managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness. Overseeing financial transactions, managing budgets, and ensuring profitability.
  4. Quality Control: Maintaining high standards for food and beverage quality and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  5. Sales and Marketing: Developing and implementing strategies to increase sales and customer traffic, including small events.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in managing a coffee shop or restaurant environment.

  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation.
  • Proficiency in financial management and inventory control.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Organising the coffee shop setup and cleanup at closing time.
  • Preparation and serving of food, taking customer orders, serving customers in conjunction with staff and volunteers.
  • Menu management – adding new items or specials as needed.
  • Event management – determine menu for events, ensure stock is on hand, ensure staff are on hand as required, prepare and serve food.
  • Ensure invoices are prepared and submitted for payment.
  • Liaise with suppliers for stock procurement, always trying to obtain best prices.
  • Make day-to-day decisions about the running of the coffee shop in conjunction with the Charity Shop Manager.
  • Daily cash-up, and ensuring kitchen is clean, safe, and locked at the end of the day.
  • Ensure that the kitchen and coffee shop are always clean and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Working Hours

7am to 4pm Monday to Friday, Saturdays 8am to 1pm. One day off per week.
