Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
  1. Ensuring compliance with timekeeping, productive output, discipline, and work programs of the Truck Workshop execution team with assistance from engineering management as required.
  2. Managing attendance and timekeeping by executing all administrative processes required, such as employee timesheets, leave, and daily attendance registers.
  3. Liaising with HR regarding concerns, issues, or disciplinary management of staff.
  4. Managing the even distribution of overtime among the team.
  5. Reviewing training requirements of workshop staff and reporting needs to the Engineering Manager and/or Directors.
  6. Ensuring that all maintenance activities on the fleet of vehicles, trucks, trailers, etc., are performed to standard and on time.
  7. Leading and managing the productivity and efficiency of all workshop activities with assistance from engineering management as required.
  8. Ensuring machinery, equipment, and tools are regularly checked as per the Safety File for the department.
  9. Maintaining high standards of workshop housekeeping and reporting issues or improvements to Engineering Management and/or Directors.
  10. Taking ownership and managing the CWorks processes for the truck workshop with assistance from engineering management as required.
  11. Monitoring quality and efficiency of team work programs and reporting issues or improvements to Engineering Management and/or Directors.
  12. Investigating breakdowns and providing accurate feedback.
  13. Managing manpower utilization to ensure it remains above 75% of work hours allocated.
  14. Ensuring compliance with legal requirements, company policies, and health & safety regulations.
  15. Abiding by regulations set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  16. Performing any other tasks as agreed with the Engineering Manager and/or Directors, suited to this level of leadership.
Qualifying Criteria
  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic with Red Seal Trade Test certificate.
  • Code 14 Driver's License and valid PDP.
  • Previous management or leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant working experience.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel).
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Experience working with a CMMS.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Good communication skills (reading, understanding, and writing English).
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
