The Recruitment Process:

  1. TA Interview: This will be a discussion with our Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to give you an understanding of our business, culture & values, and more context on the role. It also allows us to get to know you better and ensure OMI can meet your career aspirations.

  2. Panel Interview: This will involve two members of the Senior Leadership of the Hiring Team and one member of the HC Leadership Team.

  3. Technical & Psychometric Assessments: These depend on the role and may occur concurrently with Vetting Processes through an external service provider and Internal Verification.

Old Mutual Insure is seeking a forward-thinking Senior Manager: Reinsurance to implement and manage the actuarial and Treaty Management functions within the reinsurance division, focusing on reinsurance optimization. This role ensures the accuracy of key reinsurance technical calculations and the continuous improvement of controls and processes within the reinsurance treaty management function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage actuarial and treaty management functions, emphasizing reinsurance optimization.
  • Co-design optimal reinsurance structures with actuarial modeling and technical underwriting teams to support strategic objectives.
  • Develop and manage reinsurance frameworks for new and existing products across geographies.
  • Coordinate with underwriting to ensure reinsurance wordings align with coverage needs.
  • Handle reinsurance renewals and compile information packs for support.
  • Engage in industry benchmarking and networking to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Maintain relationships within the reinsurance market and analyze inwards treaty opportunities.
  • Support internal stakeholders with reinsurance requirements.
  • Drive efficiency through technical resource management and process optimization.

Operational and Governance Responsibilities:

  • Implement reinsurance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and manual transaction vetting.
  • Support regulatory reporting and audit responses.

Customer Service and Cost Control:

  • Maintain service quality and compliance with policies.
  • Develop operational relationships and manage work routines.

People Practices:

  • Align behaviors with organizational values.
  • Share knowledge and participate in professional development.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial, Insurance & Risk, or Finance.
  • 5-8 years’ experience in accounting and financial administration.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a reinsurance environment, with a focus on treaties.
