Credit Risk Associate Underwriting (Metals & Coal)

A leading global player in the commodities sector is looking for a Credit Risk Associate to join their team. The role focuses on credit underwriting for a portfolio of counterparties in the metals and coal markets.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct in-depth credit assessments, including financial analysis, industry, and country risk evaluations.
  2. Draft and present credit proposals and risk opinions to senior stakeholders.
  3. Monitor exposures, update credit files, and adjust risk ratings as needed.
  4. Assist in setting credit limits, payment terms, and applying risk mitigation tools (collateral, guarantees, credit insurance).
  5. Support the development and maintenance of credit risk models.
  6. Stay informed on macroeconomic, industry, and geopolitical factors affecting credit quality.
  7. Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and external regulations.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
  • CFA / FRM (or progress toward) advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Experience in commodities banking or energy sectors preferred
  • Familiarity with risk mitigation and trade finance tools
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, or credit systems is a plus
