Job Introduction

Join our dynamic BBC Nations Operations team, collaborating with editorial colleagues across Regional TV, Local Radio, and Online to produce engaging content while maintaining high operational, craft, and production standards. Our brands include BBC Look North, BBC Radio Tees, BBC Radio Cumbria, and BBC Radio Newcastle.

We cover diverse regions from Northumberland and The Lake District to cities like Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and Carlisle. We pride ourselves on fostering a friendly, creative environment with an experienced team ready to support you.

Main Responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Operator, you'll work in a busy news environment fulfilling various operational roles :

• Operate in a fast-paced news setting to produce polished news programs.
• Demonstrate experience in graphic design or work in a multidisciplinary environment with key graphic design duties.
• Proficiency with Adobe software (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator).
• Design digital set solutions and deliver graphics for TV and online news packages.

Additional Skills

Experience or interest in video editing and on-location filming/editing. Knowledge of directing news bulletins, studio lighting, and technical management. Training will be provided for operating automated gallery systems.

Creative and technical thinker with strong visual skills and the ability to develop complex graphic solutions. Self-disciplined, able to plan ahead and adapt to changing circumstances. Excellent communicator, confident in live news scenarios, and familiar with operational equipment. Flexible, willing to work unsocial hours, including early/late shifts and weekends.
