Job Description

The Solar PV Construction Manager is responsible for managing all technical construction aspects of Solar PV projects within the Projects Department. They will oversee construction works with teams and subcontractors, as well as the commissioning phases of a project. Upon completion, they will hand over all relevant technical project and commissioning documentation to the Project Manager. They will also support business development efforts aimed at improving departmental operations and efficiencies.

The Construction Manager may assist the Engineering Department with designing renewable energy systems on an ad hoc basis. They are responsible for maintaining project schedules, communicating progress to management, and developing quality control procedures to ensure standards are met.

Staying updated on technological and product developments in the solar industry is essential to provide the best solutions to clients. The manager must ensure projects are of high quality, adhere to company standards, and are completed on schedule. An in-depth understanding of industry trends is also crucial.

Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Maintain construction activities according to the project schedule.
  2. Manage project subcontractor scope of work.
  3. Ensure construction/installation quality control; report findings to Project and Technical Managers.
  4. Adhere to and maintain health and safety requirements on site.
  5. Manage relationships with subcontractors.
  6. Manage internal technicians assigned to the project.
  7. Oversee electrical and mechanical subcontractor construction management.
  8. Assess and provide feedback on project engineering designs.
  9. Implement construction in line with mechanical and electrical designs.
  10. Assist in designing solar PV energy systems.
  11. Assist with physical installation and construction works as needed.
  12. Support operations and maintenance issues under SLA.
  13. Develop departmental tools and documentation.
  14. Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and ISO45001 standards during construction.
  15. Ensure adherence to codes and regulations across installation sectors.
  16. Contribute to project learnings for continuous improvement.
  17. Assist in system handover to O&M department.
  18. Collaborate with the Project Manager on construction responsibilities.
