Job Description

Location: Melrose Estate, Johannesburg

This new role requires an innovative thinker, with considerable prior experience and reputational standing in the communications field to develop Zenex’s thought leadership strategy.

Identifying key topics for communication consumption to diverse audiences, creating insightful content, this function is responsible for promoting Zenex as a leader, and shaping its narrative and standing in the education sector.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive thought leadership strategy aligned with Zenex's objectives.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, engaging, and insightful thought leadership content on appropriate and diverse communication platforms
  • Define the content strategy, ensuring that it is relevant to the target audience and effectively communicates Zenex’s expertise
  • Work with internal teams, subject matter experts, and outsources professional teams to develop. promote and disseminate thought leadership content.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure that Zenex’s thought leadership content is relevant and valuable.
  • Build Zenex’s influence and advocacy profile by leveraging thought leadership to drive stakeholder engagement, build relationships, and generate new opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of trends, emerging technologies, and new landscapes to inform the development of thought leadership content.

  • Good understanding of the evolving landscape and new technologies of information consumption and production (including the use of AI)
  • Good network of and access to communication experts – in diverse fields, such as TV, Film, Radio, Social Media, Podcasts, Webinars, Conferences etc. - with the ability to leverage at short notice
  • Strategic ability to identify and angle communication opportunities for maximum impact
  • Excellent writing and content production
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams
  • Education content knowledge
  • Ability to represent the organisation publicly
  • Presence and charisma, and demonstrate agility, creativity and innovative thinking.
  • Post-graduate degree at Master’s level, in communications, journalism, education, social sciences, humanities or other relevant discipline.

You probably come from ...

  • A non-profit environment with exposure to broad development issues.
  • Ideally from within the education sector with an understanding of linguistics and its impact on successful mathematics outcomes.
